Greg F. Piper is president and chief executive officer of Enron Net Works and a member of Enron's Executive Committee. Mr. Piper brings more than 15 years of business development and energy marketing expertise to Enron.
Enron Net Works combines Enron's global technology and market making capabilities to create dynamic electronic businesses and marketplaces such as EnronOnline. EnronOnline is the world's largest e-commerce web site handling over one million transactions with a value of over $700 billion.
As president and CEO, Mr. Piper's role includes formulation of e-commerce strategies and commercial management of Enron's e-commerce, fulfillment and IT infrastructure investments.
Prior to CEO, Mr. Piper was COO of Enron Net Works. He began his career in 1986 with Enron Oil & Gas, where he held various positions in engineering, transportation and marketing. He then spent several years with Hadson Gas Systems, Inc. and LG&E Power, Inc. within their business development, gas marketing and power marketing divisions.
After joining Enron North America's origination group in November 1993, Mr. Piper's focus was marketing natural gas, electricity, and structured financial products to utilities, industrials, and independent power producers in the Eastern U.S. In 1997, Mr. Piper was promoted to vice president and given responsibility for all Enron power activities for the 11 Western states, including the move of all regional power trading and power marketing activities to Portland, Oregon. In January 2000, Mr. Piper returned to Houston, TX, and assumed responsibility for origination activities related to Industrials in North America.
Mr. Piper completed his MBA at the University of Texas in 1997 and his undergraduate work at the Colorado School of Mines where he received his bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1986.
