HSNE, INC. (HEALTHCARE SERVICES OF NEW ENGLAND) AND ENRON ANNOUNCE ENERGY SOLUTIONS PROGRAM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, November 20, 1997
BOSTON - HSNE, Inc.(Healthcare Services of New England) and Enron Energy Services (EES), an operating unit of Enron Corp., announced today that they have signed an agreement to provide an energy solutions program to the 935 healthcare members of HSNE, including 200 acute healthcare facilities.
The objective of the HSNE and the Enron energy solutions program is to help members maximize the benefits of deregulation and significantly reduce their total energy bill. The program will focus on bringing commodity and consumption solutions that provide capital for members to invest in their core business of healthcare.
"Enron is proud to team up with HSNE in its effort to take advantage of the rapidly changing energy industry," said Lou Pai, chairman and CEO of EES. "We believe HSNE members will see significant benefits through the application of Enron's innovative energy capabilities. These members will realize many of these benefits even prior to the opening of the electric markets."
HSNE and Enron will initially conduct customer seminars designed to provide information to HSNE members on the benefits of deregulation and about the products and services available through the energy solution program. The program will then provide site specific energy solutions designed to meet each member's objectives, including energy purchasing, working with local companies to design consumption reduction plans, and providing innovative financing for those solutions.
"We are excited to form an alliance with Enron, one of the largest suppliers of energy and a company that is destined to lead the energy industry in technology development," said Martha Dula, President and CEO of HSNE. "As one of the oldest purchasing and shared services companies in the country, HSNE has learned the value of forming alliances with companies that can offer technology and innovations consistent with our mission of reducing costs in healthcare that are significantly greater than the price of a commodity. We will offer products that are not only solutions but also enhancements that will help our owners and member facilities create a competitive advantage in the marketplace."
