DAVID POPE TO LEAD ENRON'S BENELUX COMMERCIAL EFFORTS

LONDON - Enron Europe Limited, a unit of Enron Corp., announced today that David Pope has been appointed vice president, Benelux, with responsibility for developing Enron's commercial activities in the liberalizing natural gas and power industries in that region.
The Benelux team will work closely with the company's existing commercial groups in western European countries, including the more liberalized Nordic and UK markets.
Pope, brings to the Benelux region nearly 20 years experience in the physical and financial marketing of natural gas in Canada and Europe. He joined Enron in Canada in 1992 and moved to London in 1995 to develop and launch the company's European physical and financial gas trading and marketing activities.
More recently, he was instrumental in the development of Enron Direct, a UK-based direct marketing group which serves the needs of small to medium industrial companies in the increasingly deregulated UK electricity market.
