ENRON CORP. ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, December 7, 1998
HOUSTON -- Enron Corp. announced today that Mark Palmer has been promoted to vice president of public relations with overall responsibility for Enron's global public relations strategy and implementation. Palmer, formerly vice president of public relations for Enron Capital & Trade Resources, succeeds Diane Bazelides, who has been promoted to managing director of marketing, communications and public relations for Azurix Corp., Enron's new water company.
Palmer joined Enron in 1996 as director of public relations. He joined Enron's regulatory affairs team in 1997 with responsibility for communications surrounding Enron's support of competitive markets in state and federal jurisdictions. He was named vice president of public relations for Enron Capital & Trade Resources in early 1998, with responsibility for media relations, internal communications, marketing communications and special events. Prior to joining Enron, Palmer served as general manager of corporate communications for Fina Oil and Chemical Company. A native of Missouri, Palmer holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
Bazelides joined Enron's Internal Audit Department in 1976 and moved to the corporation's Public Relations Department in 1980. She was named manager of media relations in 1986, director in 1988 and general manager of public relations in 1991. Since 1992 she has served as vice president of public relations for the corporation. A native of Missouri, Bazelides holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
