ENRON ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS

HOUSTON - Enron Corp. announced today that Rebecca P. Mark has been named vice chairman of the company. Mark will retain her position as chairman of Enron International and will continue to be active in the management of that business unit. In her capacity as Enron vice chairman, Mark will work with the company's business unit CEOs in pursuing asset development and privatization opportunities around the world and in developing new businesses for Enron, including those involving water.
Mark will join Enron's office of the chairman, which includes Chairman and CEO Kenneth L. Lay, President and COO Jeffrey K. Skilling and Vice Chairman Ken L. Harrison.
Joseph W. Sutton will assume the title of CEO of Enron International in addition to his existing position as president and COO. In his new capacity, Sutton will assist Mark in the development of Enron International's long-term strategy and continue his leadership of the day-to-day operations of the company.
Mark, a native of Missouri, holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in International Management from Baylor University. In addition, Mark earned an M.B.A. with distinction from Harvard University. She joined Enron in 1982 and has led the company's activities in emerging markets since 1991.
Sutton, a native of Pennsylvania, holds a B.B.A. from Ohio University and an M.S. and an M.B.A. from Indiana and Long Island Universities, respectively. He joined Enron in 1992 and was named president and COO of Enron International in 1996.
