LATINSOCCER.NET SELECTS ENRON COMMUNICATIONS TO DELIVER STREAMED ENTERTAINMENT CONTENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, December 16, 1999

HOUSTON – Enron Communications, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corp., announced today that its broadband application delivery platform has been selected by Latinsoccer.net, a premier Latin American Internet portal specializing in the delivery of content and consumer services to soccer fans.

Latinsoccer.net will deliver high bit rate broadband content to customers using Enron’s ePowered Media Cast product on Enron’s Pure IP fiber optic network, the Enron Intelligent Network. By using Enron’s network, which delivers broadcast quality audio/video at speeds up to 10 times faster than the Public Internet, Latinsoccer.net will be able to significantly improve the quality of its content.

“Our intent is to play a key role in accelerating the use of the Internet in Latin America by offering high quality content and services that our customers want,” said Felix Moreno, chairman of Latinsoccer.net. “Given the reliability and speed of the Enron Intelligent Network, the broadcast of our locally produced soccer news and information will be unparalleled on the Internet.”

For example, soccer matches covered live by Latinsoccer.net’s production crew can be viewed by thousands of desktop users simultaneously on the Latinsoccer.net Web site or other Web sites carrying the match. Latinsoccer.net currently receives an average of 2 million hits a day from the United States, Mexico and South America.

The enhanced performance of ePowered Media Cast results from the Enron Intelligent Network’s ability to reduce the number of hops between servers when delivering content to the end user. The network also has the ability to deliver content with extremely high reliability and quality during peak demand periods. Enron’s solution is in contrast to the public Internet’s capabilities to deliver broadband content, which is often hampered by data loss, interference and other disruptions that slow down transmission speed and compromise the end user’s viewing experience.

“Enron Communications is quickly redefining the type and quality of content that can reliably be delivered over the Internet, and Latinsoccer.net’s original soccer programming will again demonstrate our unique capabilities,” said Ken Rice, CEO of Enron Communications. “We are committed to developing and providing the breakthrough technology that will keep us and our strategic partners on the cutting edge in our major target markets.”

Enron Communications delivers the Enron Intelligent Network™, a Pure IP™ broadband overlay to the Internet. Enron Communications also provides rich, multimedia ePowered™ application services and bandwidth management services that enhance online commerce and communications. In early 2000, the Enron Intelligent Network will extend its reach to Europe, Japan, Asia and South America with metropolitan POPs and local ePowered distribution partners. Enron Communications offers ISPs and network providers a range of bandwidth transport solutions that enable businesses to handle high traffic and high bit rate needs. A wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corp., Enron Communications can be found on the web at www.enron.net.
