ENRON WIND ANNOUNCES SALE OF 100 WIND TURBINES TO SPAIN’S LEADING RENEWABLE ENERGY DEVELOPER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, December 2, 1999

MADRID -Enron Wind Corp., a subsidiary of Enron Corp., announced today that it has signed a sales contract through its Spanish manufacturing entity, Tacke Energia Eolica, S.L. (TEE), to supply Energias Eolicas Europeas (EEE) with 100 of the company’s patented, variable speed wind turbines.

EEE, a company 50% owned by Energia Hidroelectrica de Navarra (EHN) (Spain’s largest renewable energy developer which has installed 30% of the country’s current wind power capacity), and 50% owned by Iberdrola (Spain’s second largest electric utility), will receive delivery of the 75 MW of new wind power capacity between July and December 2000.

“Entering into this landmark agreement with EEE is a significant achievement for Enron Wind’s activities in Europe,” said Kenneth Karas, chairman and CEO of Enron Wind Corp. “EHN and EEE are both major players in the Spanish wind power market, and we are pleased to have been chosen to be their supplier. Spain’s wind power growth is forecast to be substantial. Enron is pleased to be furthering the benefits of wind power in Spain and Europe and we applaud the Spanish government’s support of new “green” power generation.”

The wind power contract calls for 100 TZ-750 kW Series wind turbines with patented, variable speed technology, a rotor diameter of 50 meters, and a 55-meter hub height. The three-bladed, upwind, active yaw wind turbines will be equipped with Enron Wind’s patented FlexiPowerTM option which provides dynamic reactive power (VAR) and voltage support to the electrical grid; a feature, in the world of wind power, only commercially achievable through Enron Wind’s patented technology.

The wind turbine was first manufactured by Enron Wind’s U.S. manufacturing entity, Zond Energy Systems, Inc., for installation in the world’s largest and most cost- competitive wind power projects. The wind turbines, branded the “TZ-750i” will be built by Tacke Energia Eolica, S.L. (TEE), a newly formed Spanish subsidiary of Enron Wind’s turbine manufacturing unit, Tacke Windenergie GmbH of Salzbergen, Germany.

The EHN-EEE group will have 418 MW of wind power capacity in operation by December 1999. EHN also owns several mini-hydro plants, solar installations and is currently implementing a biomass plant. EHN internet address is www.ehn.es.

The company provides power plant design and engineering, project development, financing, and operations and maintenance services, and designs and manufactures state-of-the-art wind turbines in California and Germany ranging in size from 550 kilowatts to 2.0 megawatts. The company has developed and/or sold more than 4,000 wind turbines worldwide, comprising more than 1,200 megawatts of green capacity. Tacke Windenergie GmbH, one of the world's largest wind turbine manufacturers, is a subsidiary of Enron Wind Corp. With over 100 years of experience in gearbox manufacturing, Tacke began developing wind turbines in 1984. Today, Tacke has installed over 450 MW of capacity comprising more than 800 wind turbines, primarily in Germany. Tacke’s 1.5 MW wind turbine was the first of this size class to become commercially available to the global market.Enron’s Wind group has offices in Madrid and Barcelona and employs 15 people locally. Enron has been active in Spain since 1996 and opened its Madrid office in Spring 1998 to serve electricity and industrial gas customers and to develop the company’s project finance and asset development business in that market. In July 1998, the Spanish ministry of Industry and Energy awarded Enron the first power marketing license granted to a non-Spanish company. In May 1999, the Ministry awarded Enron an external agent license. Together these licenses allow Enron to both import and export electricity to and from Spain. Enron has declared its interest in building a 1200MW combined cycle gas turbine plant, in the municipality of Arcos de la Frontera in Andalucia. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2000. A prospectus has been published inviting contractors to tender for the work involved in the construction of the plant.

Enron is one of the world’s leading electricity, natural gas and communications companies. The company, which owns approximately $34 billion in energy and communications assets, produces electricity and natural gas, develops, constructs and operates energy facilities worldwide, delivers physical commodities and financial and risk management services to customers around the world, and is developing an intelligent network platform to facilitate online business. Enron’s Internet address is /corp. The stock is traded under the ticker symbol, "ENE."
