ENRON TO BROADCAST INTERNATIONAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT LIVE VIA THE INTERNET

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, March 22, 2000

HOUSTON - Enron Broadband Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corp. and a leader in the delivery of high-bandwidth application services, announced today that the Coca-Cola Cup 2000 Cricket Tournament in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, will be webcast live to Internet users over the Enron Intelligent Network (EIN).

The tournament is being held from March 22 through March 31 and can be viewed in real-time at www.total-cricket.com. The Internet is a medium for cricket fans around the world to watch the sport since it is not widely televised, and thousands of fans from around the world are expected to log-on.

World Tel, an Indian sports production and distribution company, will beam the cricket matches by satellite to Enron's encoding and decoding center in Las Vegas where the signal will be distributed immediately over the EIN. Enron is one of the first companies to offer the powerful combination of satellite and terrestrial content delivery within a proprietary broadband network.

"Enron is unleashing the distribution power of the global Internet," said Joe Hirko, CEO of Enron Broadband Services. "Webcasting the cricket tournament is one example of the high-bandwidth entertainment, communications, and business applications made possible by our network."

The EIN connects ISPs with Enron's high capacity fiber network that seamlessly interfaces with Internet portals. The combination of satellite and terrestrial technology within the EIN provides the quality of service, bandwidth on demand and continual uptime required to take advantage of new high-bandwidth communications. These features, together with Enron's ability to broadcast content directly to thousands of sites simultaneously, will enable ISPs to avoid the congestion, delays and bandwidth limitations of the public Internet.

"The location of this event in the UAE has dramatically increased the technical complexity involved to stream the match. That it is possible is testament to the robustness of Enron's network," said Sanjay Bhatnagar, CEO of Enron India. "Enron is delighted to bring this important tournament to viewers who would have otherwise been unable to watch. As the infrastructure in India continues to improve, people in India will be able to enjoy quality global webcasts."
