ENRON GIVES COMPUTERS, BROADBAND ACCESS TO EMPLOYEES FOR USE AT HOME

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, October 4, 2000

HOUSTON -- Enron announced today it will give employees of its wholly owned subsidiaries a high-speed computer and Internet connection, including broadband connectivity, for use at home, beginning in 2001.

“Technology not only drives Enron’s global e-commerce business, but also impacts nearly everything individuals might want to do, from shopping online to checking movie schedules,” said Kenneth L. Lay, Enron chairman and CEO. “We are delighted to provide our employees and their families with the technology to experience high-speed Internet access.”

Through the ClickAtHome program, each eligible employee will receive a Dell Dimensionä desktop computer with a high-speed processor, floppy disk drive, CD-ROM drive, mouse, monitor, modem and speakers. Dell will provide 24-hour technical support for program participants. Enron also will subsidize an Internet connection so employees can have access to high-speed broadband applications. The company expects to offer this program to approximately 15,000 employees worldwide.

Through a company-wide computer drive, employees will be able to donate their existing home computers to Technology For All, a national program working to bridge the digital divide.
